A Bug-tastic Day in the Lab with Reception!
This week, Reception visited the science lab with Mr Behan and had a great time learning all about minibeasts. The children were introduced to new vocabulary such as invertebrates (animals without a backbone) and exoskeletons, which are hard outer coverings like those found on crustaceans such as woodlice.
We explored camouflage and patterns, and talked about how minibeasts use these to hide from predators. The children enjoyed spotting similarities and differences between the different creatures and were really curious about how they survive in their habitats. They asked lots of interesting questions and were very engaged throughout.
A big thank you to Mr Behan for such an enjoyable and informative lesson.
