Welcome to the Barrow Hills Bulletin, your weekly newsletter with a snapshot of life at School.
Message From the Head
Dear Parents,
Drama is such a vital part of our English curriculum, and we ensure that every child in the Prep School takes part in a major production each year. This is a real benefit for cognitive and social development, supporting enjoyment, comprehension and fluency and, critically, encouraging children to take risks, perform and build confidence.
Year 5 and 6’s High School Musical was a gem this week, and using the large theatre space at King Edward’s really gave the cast room to perform brilliantly. There was such strong teamwork and a great sense of joy for both the cast and an appreciative audience – thank you to the dedicated team of staff and parent helpers for all the hard work helping to bring this ambitious production to life, and for all the support from our parental community.
The week saw Year 1 enjoying a Castle Day, complete with some fabulous costumes and a delicious lunchtime feast. To round off a busy week, today Year 2 visited Butser Ancient Farm to learn all about life in the Stone Age, Iron Age, Roman and Anglo Saxon periods.
Looking back to last week, many thanks to the Parents’ Association for the disco, which was very much enjoyed by all. I still have my “disco tattoo”, thanks to Year 3… sensibly on an arm, not the face.
Looking ahead, a reminder of our Pre-Prep Spring Showcase and Easter Bonnet event on the morning of Tuesday 24th March. I’m sure parents will enjoy this. We also have the legendary Bunny Run coming next Friday, get your joggers on and join us!
