Bringing AI to the Guildhall
On Wednesday, Year 8 travelled to the Guildhall to meet the full court of Bridewell. During the visit, they demonstrated the new Bridewell AI and showcased how Governors can use it to support pupils with a piece of creative writing. Rather than simply giving answers, the AI encourages critical thinking, guiding pupils to reflect on their ideas and understand the next steps in their learning.
They also taught the Governors how to craft an effective prompt, explaining how the quality of the prompt directly influences the quality of the response. By the end of the session, the Governors were able to compare the students’ original drafts with the AI-supported versions, clearly seeing the significant improvements in clarity, structure, and creativity.
“The AI presentation and interaction by the BHS pupils with the Governing Body members was truly brilliant, informative, and a great experience. Their knowledge of the system, and their enthusiasm to want to use it as an important tool to enhance their Learning of English was infectious. The pupils explanations and presentation was done so assured – an amazing advert for the pupils.” – Mike Chadwick, Chair of Finance Committee, Bridewell Royal Hospital.

“The AI presentation at Wednesday’s Board meeting was, as Mike, fellow governor, remarked, “truly brilliant, informative, and a great experience.” I was equally delighted, along with fellow governors Jane and Susan, to hear directly from Henry and James in Year 8. They spoke with clarity and real passion about using the tool in English, describing it as an “AI tutor.” They explained how much depends on crafting a high-quality prompt and how the reflective feedback they receive helps them improve their creative writing – strengthening their authorial voice, enriching vocabulary choices, and encouraging the use of powerful verbs and other key techniques. Their presentation showed genuine understanding, imagination, and growing mastery of their craft.” – Clive Marriott, Chair of Education Committee, Bridewell Royal Hospital.
