IAPS Debating Win!

On Monday, Barrow Hills hosted the IAPS Debating district competition. We were joined by children and staff from Aldro, Danes Hill and Prebendal School.

Josh and Thomas from Year 8 represented Barrow Hills through two rounds – the first a pre-prepared argument FOR using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to help with homework. Round two was a surprise topic announced on the day requiring quick thinking and preparation to argue FOR/AGAINST the motion “This house believes that the UK should follow the Australian model and ban social media for under-16s.”

It was a fantastic learning experience, and we are delighted to announce that the boys were victorious and now move into the national finals in May. A huge well done to Josh and Thomas from Year 8 for representing the school so admirably. Thank you also to Alfie, who was our first reserve, and helped the boys prepare for the initial round.
