Thanksgiving Celebrations with Reception

Last week, the children enjoyed learning a little more about the American festival of Thanksgiving. We found out that Thanksgiving is a special day celebrated in the United States, where families and friends come together to say ‘thank you’ for the good things in their lives. Children learned that many families enjoy a big meal together, often with foods like turkey, pumpkins and sweet potatoes.

We also discovered that Thanksgiving began a long time ago when people wanted to give thanks for the harvest and the help they received from others.

A big thank you to one of our Reception children who kindly brought in a colourful decorative flag and some fun Thanksgiving hats to share with their friends. The class loved exploring these items and learning even more about the celebration.
