Drop Everything and Read with Reception
This week in Reception, the children have enjoyed their DEAR (Drop Everything and Read) sessions as we celebrated World Book Week. As part of our weekly timetable, the children regularly spend time exploring books, either independently or alongside friends. They love having the opportunity to choose books that spark their own interests, whether that’s stories, non-fiction, or familiar favourites. It is wonderful to see them sharing books together and enjoying a calm, cosy moment in our busy day.
DEAR. time supports our Reception children by developing their early reading skills, building vocabulary, and encouraging a lifelong love of books. It also helps to strengthen concentration, listening skills, and imagination, while providing a valuable quiet time to relax and regulate during the school day.
