Celebrating Books with Kindy & Nursery!
It has been a wonderful week in Kindy and Nursery.
We celebrate books, reading and children’s literature each and every day so we were all thrilled to highlight this vitally important area during World Book Week.
The children have enjoyed different stories every day focused around the theme of ‘Food’.
Each class displayed a poster showing the five books of the week. The theme of food was particularly significant as it linked directly with the PSHE topic of ‘Healthy Me’.
The children loved looking at all the food the Hungry Caterpillar ate and working out if it was healthy or not healthy.
It was also lovely to include the classic and well loved Tiger Who came to Tea.
Daisy Eat Your Peas is a wonderful book for encouraging participation and drama!
It was lovely to encourage discussion and greater knowledge and understanding of the world through Teatime around the World and The Spice Box.
The children loved smelling spices and different herbal tea bags too!
It was wonderful to have a visit from our Year 8’s. They read stories to a truly captive audience and it was absolutely delightful to see the children listening so intently. Thank you Year 8 for selecting such super stories!
We were all so impressed with the wonderful array of costumes the children wore for World Book Day. It was such a fantastic celebration of book characters. Everyone loved sharing information about their characters with their friends.
Thank you to Mrs Withers for arranging some lovely activities this week. We all loved meeting Tamsyn Murray, the author.
