World Book Week!

We had a fantastic week celebrating World Book Week, with everyone coming together to celebrate the joy and importance of reading through a range of activities.

The week saw some buddy reading sessions where older and younger children paired up to share stories, in a warm and supportive atmosphere. This cross-age reading opportunity helps to build confidence and foster friendships whilst modelling positive reading habits and helping to nurture a love of books from the earliest years.

Throughout the week, opportunities to pause and read were woven into the school day. Our Drop Everything and Read (DEAR) moments invited both pupils and staff to stop what they were doing and lose themselves in a book, reinforcing the message that reading is both valuable and enjoyable at any time.

A highlight of the week was a visit from author Tamsyn Murray, who led a series of engaging sessions for children from Nursery to Year 6. Hearing directly from a writer gave children a wonderful insight into the creative process behind storytelling and inspired many of our budding readers and writers. On Thursday, it was lovely to welcome so many favourite book characters to school. Year 2 started the day with a bang giving a fun assembly, following which we all headed outside into the glorious sunshine for a costume parade.

Thank you to everyone who helped out throughout the week…let’s make some time to read over the weekend!
