Rugby Rivalry Scores Big for Charity
Earlier this year, Barrow Hills raised an impressive amount of money for our Lenten appeal in support of Shooting Star Children’s Hospices. To add some friendly competition, Mr Smith and Mr Pretorius made a bet to see whose form class could raise the most money. Both being passionate rugby fans, they agreed that the losing teacher would have to wear the other’s choice of rugby jersey.
As a proud South African, Mr Pretorius risked having to wear an England rugby jersey if his class lost, while Mr Smith would don a South African (Springbok) jersey if his class fell short.
In the end, Mr Smith’s class came out on top, so Mr Pretorius had to wear the England jersey. However, in a show of good sportsmanship, Mr Smith chose to wear the South African jersey anyway.
Ultimately, the real winner was Shooting Star Children’s Hospices, thanks to the fantastic fundraising efforts of everyone involved.
