IAPS Debating
On Monday Josh and Thomas in Y8 took part in the IAPS National Debating finals.
In round 1 the boys had to argue that the most important thing for the Government to spend their budget on was DEFENCE. They were part of 12 pairs from all across the country who had 3 minutes between them to speak. Other competitors could interrupt with a POI (point of information) – and the children had to decide if they wished to answer their point or to move on…
Round 2 – the boys went through to The Plate competition – where they argued that Too much time was spent preparing for exams and that the time would be better spent on Life Skills. They were very eloquent and confident!
We were so impressed with their social skills and their polite manners and behaviour!
