Wonderful Nettles with Forest School

This week we have been talking about the wonderful nettle plant and its many uses.
Known for its anti-inflammatory properties, it can also be used to help manage hay fever allergies, by drinking a refreshing tea, made from the leaf tips.
Butterflies lay their eggs on the underside of nettle leaves to protect them from predators, and to provide a nutritious first meal for the caterpillars. You often find ladybirds on nettle leaves, eating tasty aphids.
The children then were given the opportunity to try nettle tea around the fire circle and after our lesson we all washed our hands with nettle soap!
