Hockey Masterclass with Old Barrow Hillian Hettie Whittington

We were delighted to welcome former pupil Hettie Wittington back to school this week for a fantastic hockey masterclass with our Year 5 and Year 6 children.

Now studying at Yale University, Hettie shared her passion, skill and experience with the children during an energetic and engaging session on the pitch. Children had the opportunity to develop their hockey techniques, learn new drills and hear first-hand about the dedication and teamwork needed to succeed in sport at a high level.

Following the masterclass, Hettie spent time with our Year 7 and 8’s for an inspiring Q&A session. She spoke about balancing academics and sport, her journey from our school to Yale University in the United States, and the opportunities that hockey has opened up for her. The children asked thoughtful questions and greatly enjoyed hearing about her experiences both on and off the pitch.

It was wonderful to see Hettie back at school and to watch her inspire the next generation of hockey players. We are incredibly grateful for her time and enthusiasm, and we look forward to following her continued success in the future!
