Barrow Hills’ Christmas Cracker

6th December 2019

Children, parents and staff from Barrow Hills came together to enjoy an afternoon of festive fun on Friday 6th December.

The event was designed by the Barrow Hills School Council (made up of elected representatives from Reception to Year 8) and resulted in the whole School participating in a variety of Christmas themed activities including carol singing, crafting and a visit to Santa’s grotto!

The day ended on a high with families collecting their pre-ordered Christmas tree, following the School’s participation in the established ‘Christmas Trees for School Fundraising Scheme’. The initiative enabled Barrow Hills to offer top quality Nordmann Fir trees, sourced from sustainable plantations, at a very reasonable price! The trees were delivered to the School, making for a convenient and carbon footprint friendly purchase.

Lorraine Miles, Year 3 form teacher and Head of School Council, who helped the children organise the event, said, “Barrow Hills’ School Council is made up of children from every year group, who have proposed many wonderful ideas throughout this half term, including today’s winter wonderland. The School Council provides the children with a forum to help realise their own unique ideas and dreams. As per summer’s Grandparents Day, this event was also a huge success, helping to spread the Christmas joy far and wide.”
