The House System

Houses

The children love being part of the House system; representing one of three Houses; Kean, McCormack and Murtough. Weekly in assembly, children are given a running total of their House points. This culminates in the Clover Cup for the House which has gained the most points. Regular House meetings are held as well as House competitions which include singing, world poetry day, a quiz, a creative writing competition and sports day, for which cups are awarded.

Children can also earn House points (credits) and representative tokens are collected weekly. Our Pupil Profile attributes are used for their awarding; curious, brave, scholarly, compassionate, generous, joyful, truthful, responsible.

Examples of what credits might be given for:

  • Demonstrating responsibility i.e. taking a tour, completing a job for a member of staff, helpfulness,
  • Demonstrating compassion i.e. a specific act of kindness, looking after a child on a taster day, helping with a charity event,
  • Demonstrating generosity i.e. giving up their time for another person,
  • Demonstrating bravery i.e. leaving their comfort zone or being brave and taking a risk,
  • Demonstrating independence i.e. showing initiative with something without being asked,
  • Other examples could include: commitment, creativity, resilience…

Each with its own personality, our Houses are so much more than just a place to be, they are the heart of school life providing a home from home where lifelong friendships are made, opportunities are explored and where each and every child is seen and feels valued for who they are.
