1st December 2023
The hustle and bustle of the final weeks of term are certainly upon us and there’s been a definite feel of winter just around the corner this week! Before the arrival of the Christmas tree during the week, we heralded the welcome of Christmas to Barrow Hills with our first Christingle Service on Monday morning. Pre-Prep children from Reception to Year 2 entered the Chapel, carefully cradling their Christingles which they had each made last Friday. With Miss Tyrrell’s helpful explanation of what the orange, red ribbon, candle and the sweets all represented, together with Mia (YR) so ably assisting, the children were able to appreciate the meaning which underpinned Monday’s service. They watched the older children from Prep with wide-eyed curiosity as they all lit their candles! This morning, there was further festive excitement after Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 joined Year 3 to Year 8 for assembly and were informed that a Christmas Elf named Buttons has arrived at Barrow Hills and will be keeping a close eye on us all over the next couple of weeks. We will all be keeping our eyes peeled around the main school building for our Christmas visitor!
Congratulations to this week’s children who received certificates for their Work of the Week. Minty (YR), Matilda (1G), George B (1R) and Ishir (2G) all received certificates for their efforts the previous week. It has been wonderful to hear how children have been challenging themselves in lessons, listening carefully and taking on board advice from teaching staff. Well done. We extended our congratulations to those who earned their bronze certificates this week. Well done to India, Matthew, Sammy and Arthur from Reception Class, to George W, Hugo, Walter and Henry from 1R and to Rafferty, Sophie, Beau and Ottilie from 1G. Fantastic efforts, all of you.
Another reminder of key dates in the coming weeks which have previously been communicated via Tuesday Comms:
Have a lovely weekend – keep warm!
