8th December 2023
A school is an exciting place to be in the build up to Christmas and such excitement was palpable this week as Pre-Prep children tried on their Nativity costumes for the first time and unleashed the glitter and christmas sprinkles, whilst demonstrating their artistic flair in designing and decorating all sorts of things from lanterns and cards, to clay decorations and biscuits. Thank you to the children in Kindy who created the beautiful gold, shiny star for the whole cast to look at for next week’s performance. Buttons, our elf visitor from the North Pole, has continued to be the source of laughter and surprise as he has been spotted dangling from the balcony above Mrs Hubble’s desk, toasting marshmallows by the wood burner and even tucking in to lunch in the Refectory!
Congratulations to Ava (YR), Rafferty (1G), Hugo (1R) and Theo (2) who were each awarded Work of the Week at assembly earlier in the week. There’s been some excellent mathematical learning taking place as well as impressive progress in phonics. Well done. We were able to award a number of Pre-Prep children with their bronze awards this week as a result of their efforts and hard work since September. Well done to Alexander, Austin, Ava and Holly from Reception Class, to Otis, Jacob, Hannah and Orson from Year 1 and to Joe and Ishir from Year 2.
We are very excited about the upcoming Nativity performance on Tuesday 12th December at 9:30am in Chapel. There will be refreshments served, alongside carols from the Bridewell Singers in the Refectory after drop-off. Just to add to next Tuesday’s festivities, we also have Christmas Jumper Day and Christmas Lunch on Tuesday so don’t forget to bring your Christmas jumper with you to put on after the performance! On Wednesday, Reception to Year 2 are heading to the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre in Guildford for the performance of Cinderella, while Nursery and Kindy children welcome the Hobgoblin Theatre Company to enjoy their performance of The Pied Piper of Hamlin. Pre-Prep Christmas Forest School on Thursday morning is always a festive calendar highlight and who knows who we may meet…
Have a lovely weekend, everyone.
