26th January 2024
Dear Pre-Prep Parents,
A very Scottish theme took hold of Pre-Prep this week as the children all had a go at some Scottish country dancing on Tuesday. Joining hands to slip-step right and left, spins with partners and advancing in and out of a group circle were only a handful of the moves we all practised in the hall. I think everyone, staff included, were surprised by how exhausted they all were after. This followed an introduction to Kindy, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 of what Burns Day is and why and how it is celebrated on 25th January around the world. Quite a few children put their hand up to say they had even tried haggis before!
On Thursday, our Year 8 House Captains led their first House Meeting with Pre-Prep. Children from Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 attended the meeting with their house captain and learnt a bit about their house leaders. It was also an opportunity for Pre-Prep to ask the house captains any questions they had and learn what it means to be part of a house system at school. Meanwhile, today our School Council Representatives from Pre-Prep met with other Representatives across the school to discuss matters across the school including the behaviour policy and stationery.
Well done to Rocco (Rec), Jacob (1G), Freddie (1R) and Hugh (2G) who achieved a Work of the Week certificate in this morning’s assembly. It is fantastic to hear how hard our children are working and how some children are trying really hard to work increasingly independently and challenge themselves. Congratulations, also, to Bas (2G) who received his Bronze Certificate at this morning’s assembly.
Next week is National Storytelling Week and children are invited to bring in their favourite story book or picture book to school to share with their friends and teachers. Each class also looks forward to hearing a story from different visiting staff from across the school. More details to follow in next week’s Bulletin.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend.
