Happy New Year! It has been wonderful to welcome the children back to school and hear all about the lovely family time they enjoyed over the holidays. They have returned well-rested and eager to learn, and we are very excited for the term ahead!
Our Book of the Week has been Alan’s Big Scary Teeth. The children have thoroughly enjoyed retelling the story in their own words and exploring the characters’ perspectives. We introduced the concept of speech bubbles, and the children came up with some fantastic ideas for what the characters might have been saying at different points in the story.
This led us into a discussion about oral health. Using the Hey Duggee Toothbrush Song, we practiced timing two minutes for toothbrushing and learned the proper way to brush our teeth. The children even had a go at brushing “teeth” on some fun activity sheets with real brushes and toothpaste.
They also shared their own experiences of visiting the dentist, compared toothbrushes, and discussed their favorite types of toothpaste!
