In preparation for the RSPB Birdwatch, we’ve been learning to identify some of the birds we’re likely to see here at Barrow Hills. From the robin with its red-orange tummy to the male blackbird with shiny black feathers and a bright orange beak—and, of course, the female blackbird with her dull brown feathers and plain beak—the children have been practicing their bird-spotting and descriptive skills.
It was all going so well until Nursery spotted a problem! Surely a black-and-white bird must be… a panda! Silly Mrs. Wilson!
Reception class also got creative, making birds using materials gathered from the woodland floor. And, naturally, everyone got wonderfully muddy hands—some muddier than others!
