Year 4 Leads the Way in Expanding Vocabulary

A recent study found that reading books exposes you to 40% more new words compared to watching television. That’s why the Barrow Hills library is embracing tricky words and celebrating the joy of discovering new vocabulary.

Library time is now an opportunity to share and celebrate new words, and everyone is encouraged to contribute to Mrs. Dudley’s Wonderful Words display. Year 4 has made a fantastic start!

Pupils have been tasked with writing down tricky words they encounter in their reading journals. Each week, we’ll be selecting one word per pupil to feature on our library display board.

Happy reading and word hunting!
