As part of our Wonderful World topic, this week we have been learning about China and spent a day immersing ourselves in different aspects of the country and its culture.
In a classroom decorated with Chinese lanterns made by the children in Art, we located China on a world map and identified key rivers and cities. In our Maths lesson, we explored tangrams and how the seven shapes in these ancient Chinese puzzles can be arranged to form a wide range of animal pictures. In Literacy, the children learned about Chinese calligraphy and how writing was first invented in China, before using black paint and fine brushes to try their own calligraphy. We watched videos of Chinese New Year, and the children made dancing lion puppets before heading to Drama, where they acted as animals from the Chinese lunar calendar. An RE lesson on Buddhism and the story of The Monkey King completed our China Day.
Super work, Year 2!
