Year 1 had a very exciting trip to the Science Lab this week, learning about different types of animals, their diet and their habitats. All the children are making a poster about an animal of their choice, as well as building a habitat for their animal by selecting natural resources including ice cubes, water, sand, leaves, pine cones, twigs, small branches, water tubs, cacti and straw.
The children made brilliant homes for seals in icy water, for turtles with sand, water and shells, for a horse on a farm with straw, and for African animals using sand with some trees to shelter from the hot sun and a watering hole!
It was fantastic to see the children discussing, interacting and being able to think outside the box. Well done to all of Year 1 for such great teamwork and for sharing your knowledge with each other.
Thank you Mr Behan for inviting Year 1 to The Science Lab and a special thank you to our wonderful Year 8 children who were incredibly supportive towards the children and helped them gather resources and animals.
