This week our lovely librarian, Mrs Dudley, chose two books for the Pre-Prep department to look at.
Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 have been exploring ‘ The Magic Paintbrush’ by Julia Donaldson. We read the story of a young girl, gifted a magic paintbrush, only to be used to help the poor. Everyone had to think of something they would paint, that would come to life, if they owned the ‘magic paintbrush’. We then had a scavenger hunt through the woods, finding images taken from the book.
For Nursery and Kindy, Mrs Dudley had chosen ‘Where is the Green Sheep?’, by Mem Fox and Judy Horacek, a story about lots of different coloured sheep, in unusual locations, doing unusual things, with the protagonist, the green sheep, not being seen until the final pages. The book repeatedly asks “where is the green sheep?” and the Nursery children took great delight in shouting “it’s on the next page!” every time the book asked! We then searched the woods looking for ‘the green sheep’ who was found asleep on the bird feeder!
