Cleo, Year 8

Cleo will be leaving Barrow Hills as our newest alumni cohort this summer. She thoroughly enjoyed all sport at Barrow Hills, especially netball, but hockey is her first love! The coaches at BH always stretched and encouraged her. Cleo was part of the BH hockey team who qualified twice for the IAPS National Finals, both times an incredible experience. Cleo’s favourite memory of Barrow Hills is the Holland Hockey tour, she loved being away with her friends and playing very competitive matches against the Dutch clubs.

In Year 2, Mrs Burnett encouraged Cleo to join Haslemere Hockey Club at U8, and she has never looked back. Cleo made her Ladies 1st team debut at age 13 and she now plays alongside Mrs Burnett! Cleo (with her younger sister) was also a member of the Haslemere U12 squad who qualified for the ‘In2Hockey’ National Finals, and came fifth overall in the country.

Aged 11, Cleo qualified for the U13 Hampshire county squad and the following year played in the Hampshire Performance Centre. In 2023, she achieved a place in the ‘South Saxons’ squad, a regional team drawn from across the southern counties and London. Cleo has been nominated for a Talent Academy place with trials in March and May this year. Her ambition is to represent her country!
