Please find below all the details of how the competition will run.
We’d love it if your children are able to take part and look forward to receiving the recordings by Friday 27th November, simply email to christmas@barrowhills.org.
Please tell us the name of the song and the composer, along with your nursery or school name and class/bubble name.
For example:
Jingle Bells by James Pierpoint. Haslemere Infants, Reception
Rudolf, the Red-Nosed Reindeer by Jonny Marks. Witley Nursery, Bubble 1
Current rules are that groups of up to 15 children may sing together in their bubbles. Please ensure you are following the most up to date guidance.
It does not have to be a perfect recording, so please do not worry, having fun is what counts!
Please do not send video recordings, due to photo permissions. We recommend that you record it as a voice memo on an iPhone.
Please email the recording to christmas@barrowhills.org.
If you are having difficulties, please email us and we will help you.
Recordings will be uploaded to Soundcloud as they are received to the Christmas Song Competition page.
Yes, we’d be very happy to receive more than one entry per nursery or school, please ensure they are clearly named.
Please submit all competition entries by midday, Friday 27th November 2020.
The songs will be judged by the Music Scholars at our partner school, King Edward’s Witley. They will be looking for creativity and fun, not necessarily musical ability!
Two friendly reindeers plus their handlers will visit your nursery or school on 8th December 9.30am to 12 noon. If a national lockdown is extended beyond 2nd December, we intend to re-book the reindeer visit at a date/time convenient to the winning school/nursery before Christmas. If this becomes impossible to achieve in 2020, we will give the winners a different first prize and their school/nursery will receive the reindeer visit in December 2021.
The Reindeer Centre will supply a 12ft x 12ft square white picket fence and ground sheet, covered with straw as bedding, feed and water for the reindeer and gazebo covering which can be erected by their team in minutes if the event is to be external (for example in your car park). They will also supply adequate hand sanitisers. The handlers will be dressed in traditional Sámi outfits and will remain with the reindeer throughout the whole of the event. They will give a talk to the children, be on hand to answer those inquisitive questions and explain interesting reindeer facts.
Classrooms may come out one or two at a time (please follow most up to date Government guidance at the time of the visit).
You will be provided with a Risk Assessment, copies of Public Liability £10m, Employers Liability, Performing Animals Licence and Animal Welfare Statement.
Fifteen “Rolbie Reindeer” jellycat toys. He is a toasty-warm trotter!
Tested to and passes the European Safety Standard for toys: EN71 parts 1, 2 & 3, for all ages. Suitable from birth.
