Monday’s Assembly topic was Bridewell, presenting the ideal opportunity for the Bridewell Choir to sing.
The Bridewell Choir is a chamber choir where children are given the experience of working in an ensemble that strives for high standards of singing, performs challenging music and develops the professional musician in each chorister. Each chorister is asked to audition and if successful, is invited to join the choir. Choristers take part in a variety of events from school eucharists, carol services and cathedral trips. As well as events with King Edward’s Witley Chapel Choir such as, Bridewell Day at St Bride’s Fleet Street in front of the Lord Mayor of the City of London and the Governors of the Bridewell Royal Hospital Foundation.
The choristers sung the anthem ‘Call of Wisdom’ by Will Todd and it was the first time since March 2019 that the choir has performed live. After the anthem, each chorister was issued with their badge and led the school through the hymn. Mr Oldroyd requested the choir sung the anthem again, this was equally beautiful the second time.
“The choristers performed exceptionally well on Monday and it was wonderful to have the chance to showcase choral talent developing in music at Barrow Hills. Each chorister was an ambassador for the school and it was a privilege to hear them sing so well.
We received a raft of positive comments from teachers, parents and children and I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible attending the carol services and enjoying their skills again.”
