Following our learning about ‘The Little Red Hen’ and the harvest, we continued to pique the children’s interest in crops and vegetables, taking ‘Oliver’s Vegetables’ as our focus for the week.
The children have enjoyed the story and we have looked at a wide range of vegetables, from beetroot to turnips, from cabbage to carrots. They then used the vegetables as paint brushes to create some fabulous vegetable paintings.
The class has also begun to learn about healthy eating and ways to keep their bodies healthy, including looking after their oral health. There was much hilarity as the children made ‘teeth’ by painting empty water bottles with a mix of white paint and glue; and then practised their brushing technique using toothpaste and toothbrushes.
A fantastic end to our first half term in Reception – well done – and have a super break!
