As part of their topic work, Year 4 headed out on a trip to explore historic Haslemere. This involved identifying historic buildings from the centuries, exploring the town well and discovering that post boxes used to be green! The trip also included a visit to the Haslemere Museum with all its incredible artefacts as well as participation in a workshop exploring the changes to Haslemere town centre over the last few hundred years.
Below are some thoughts from our Year 4s…
“I enjoyed looking at the well, understanding that it supplied water to the whole of Haslemere and learning that Hannah Oakford delivered water for one and a ha penny.”
Phoebe
“I enjoyed learning about the window tax introduced by the Georgians, looking at all the amazing artefacts and exploring the historical maps.”
Josh
“I loved learning about the Haslemere riot and studying the historic maps. I enjoyed looking at the sparkling amethyst.”
George
“I was amazed by all the interesting artefacts in the museum, particularly the mummies and studying all the different maps of Haslemere through the ages.”
