Last weekend, Max (6R) went to the Sunshine Tour National Championships, held at Hickstead International Showground. He had qualified in Dressage and First Ridden Showing Class. It was an enormous show – Max’s number was 3098. The atmosphere was buzzing and it was very busy.
Max came 11th in dressage and 10th in his showing class (which he was amazed at, as some cows had been let out into the next door field and Rummie, his pony, hates cows). This meant the show suddenly went from being calm to being rather speedy! It was an amazing event to end an era with Rummie, Max’s first pony. Max is now just too big and heavy for him. Although Rummie is 26, he will go and teach another lucky little boy or girl to ride. They will have an amazing time, but Max and his family will miss him dearly.
It has been a busy week as Max then attending the Pony Club National Pistol Shooting Championships. For the National final, Max shot two handed at a distance of 7m, a total target score of 1880 out of a potential 2000 using 20 pellets. His first 10 shots were all bulls eyes! He shot a joint 7th highest final score and came joint 50th out of 83. He shot the joint 3rd highest score for Chiddingfold Pony Club. This was impressive as the competition is open to those 25yrs and under and there is no age grouping.
Max, you are a star, well done!
