The challenge this week was to build a nest, strong enough to hold eggs, using a clothes peg as a beak. Some children admitted defeat without even trying, declaring the challenge “impossible”. Others rose to the occasion, embraced their inner bird and had a really good go! By the end of the session, everyone was able to recognise and appreciate the skill and dexterity required to build a nest. Clever old birds!

Last week’s bird feeder making was a huge hit with the birds and wildlife, judging by the empty strings on Kindy trees and the stripped bare bird feeding station. There was nothing but half eaten pine cones scattered around. The children have also enjoyed being birds in the trees and playing in the giant nest.

Another wonderful week in the outdoor classroom.
