Spring is nature’s way of saying ” Let’s Party! ” – Robin Williams
With this lovely quote in mind, I planned lots of fun games for the children this week!
Years 1 and 2 were split into two teams and told to make themselves as long as possible, while still being connected. The children initially held hands, then touched fingertips, then they laid down and got progressively more imaginative until someone in Year 2 ended up in his vest with his top and coat between himself and the next person!
We discussed birds, worms and life cycles, particularly how predators use vision to find their prey and prey use camouflage to protect themselves. A selection of different coloured ‘woolly worms’ were scattered over the Headmasters lawn. The children chose which type of bird they were and flew over the lawn collecting the first coloured worm they saw. As they had correctly predicted, the brighter the ‘worm’ the easier it was to spot on the green lawn.
Reception went on to play a game of ‘hunt the worm’ where the birds chase the worms around the garden until captured and gobbled up!
We have an amazing den being built in the Pre-Prep forest area, Reception class are demonstrating excellent; teamwork, communication, strength and determination whilst building it. Well done guys!
