A fortnight ago, Year 8 presented an assembly to Years 2-7 about Lent and how important it is to show compassion. At Barrow Hills, we do this by helping a local charity, a long standing school tradition at this time of year. The children shared information about three local charities and the children, parents and staff attending were able to vote for which charity we would support this year.
This year’s Lenten Appeal will be supporting ‘Dreams Come True’. I am sure you will agree, it is a very worthwhile charity to support.
We are encouraging all children in the school to raise money by whatever means they wish. In the past, class and year groups have taken part in school based sponsored events and other children have raised money at home by holding cake sales, garage sales, helping with household chores or making up their own sponsored events.
This year, to hopefully make things easier, we have created a Just Giving page, so the children can be incentivised to see the total money raised increase as the weeks go by! Please don’t forget to add gift aid and share it with anybody you feel might also be able to help.
Please encourage your children to be proactive, help them raise some money and make a difference to the lives of children less fortunate.
Thank you for your support.
