News from Middle Prep

22nd March 2024

Dear Parents,

As we approach the end of term and the beginning of the Easter holidays, I am excited to share with you the highlights of this week’s activities in the Middle Prep. It has been a week filled with learning, fun, and memorable experiences for the children.

Year 3: Children embarked on an exciting adventure to Wisley Gardens for a school trip. They explored the beauty of nature, learned about different plant species, and engaged in hands-on activities that sparked their curiosity and appreciation for the natural world. The children have been enjoying our statistics unit in maths, making use of their developing IT skills to create some excellent bar charts illustrating the class’s crisp flavour preferences. The children are also doing brilliantly learning the songs for their performance of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ – any holiday practice of these songs would be greatly appreciated. Finally, I was delighted to hear how much all the children are enjoying reading; they have all improved so much this year! The love of reading that is being fostered at home and at school is evident, keep up the great work!

Year 4: The Year 4 children showcased their musical talents in a series of informal concerts held this week. It was a joyous celebration of their hard work and dedication, as they performed for their peers, teachers, and parents, sharing their passion for music with enthusiasm and pride. Maths lessons have focused on decimals which then led on to perimeter and, for some, area. In English lessons, the children have been enthusiastically using their Chromebooks to produce superb newspaper articles. They have thoroughly enjoyed role playing reporters and we can’t wait to see the finished articles printed and displayed.

Year 5 Excursion to “School of Rock”: Our Year 5 children had the opportunity to experience the magic of live theatre as they attended a performance of “School of Rock” at King Edward’s Witley. It was a captivating and inspiring outing that allowed our children to immerse themselves in the world of music and theatre, igniting their imagination and creativity.

Year 6 Assisting Pre-Prep Children at the Bunny Run: The Year 6 children demonstrated leadership and kindness as they assisted the Pre-Prep children during the annual ‘Bunny Run’. Their support and encouragement helped create a joyful and inclusive atmosphere for all participants, fostering a sense of unity and camaraderie within our school community.

Whole School Bridewell Service: We gathered as a whole school community for a Bridewell service, where we reflected on the history of the Bridewell Foundation. It was a poignant moment for our school, as we collectively embraced the values that define us, fostering a sense of empathy and connection among our School community.

Annual ‘Bunny Run’: We ended the week with our much-anticipated annual ‘Bunny Run’! Laughter and joy filled the air as we celebrated the spirit of Easter and the camaraderie of our school community.

As we look back on this week’s events, we’re filled with gratitude for the opportunity to witness the growth, achievements, and spirit of our children.  Now, as we approach the Easter holidays, I encourage you to take this time to rest and rejuvenate. May this break be filled with joy, laughter, and precious memories.

Warm regards,
