Busy Bees in Kindy!

The Kindy children are busy all day long as they learn through play.

They have been exploring colour changes using lolly sticks, which has helped them remember how primary colours mix to create new colours.

The children are thoroughly enjoying learning RWI Speed Sounds (Set 1). Alongside structured carpet time, they play “I Spy” around the room, paint the sounds, draw them in sand, and choose colours to practise writing the sounds in their books.

Each week, the children learn a new number and love singing songs to build their number knowledge. They enjoy playing games with different manipulatives — a particular favourite is twisting hair bands onto numbered lolly sticks! They also practise writing numbers in sand, with paint, and finally in their books.

There is a wonderful atmosphere of eagerness to learn and sheer delight when the children master writing or painting a new number or sound.

The importance of play is vital to the children’s development and it continues throughout the week with tuff trays, sand and water activities, art and craft and child-led enhancements. Of course, dressing up takes place daily and the children are particularly fond of the Super Heroes dressing up bag!
