Reception was delighted to welcome back Mrs Harris. We have had a busy week creating repeating patterns using coloured blocks, pegboards, playdough and magnetic fish after fishing for them! The patterns became more complex as the children explored different combinations and sequences.
We looked at garden creatures in French and butterflies in Outdoor Classroom. Did you know a ladybug in French is une coccinelle and that butterfly wings have symmetrical patterns? The children are beavering away on our songs for the summer production and we made special Father’s Day cards. But these are totally top secret!
We really enjoyed our trip to Wisley. We went on a woodland walk and saw a huge redwood tree that is still only a baby at 300 years old! We made houses for the tree fairies, investigated scented plants and did bark rubbing. We planted our own nasturtium seeds to take home. Our amazing day finished with a play in the adventure playground. So many of the visitors to the gardens stopped us to say how beautifully the children were behaving and how smartly turned out they all were. Our hearts swelled with pride! Many thanks to all the lovely helpers who came on our visit and to Mrs Miles for stepping in and having lots of learning fun with us.
