The Year 7 drama scholars plus some other lucky Year 7 drama fans enjoyed a trip to London on Thursday, along with some Year 7 pupils from King Edward’s.
They travelled by train then walked to the National Theatre where they learnt about all the different jobs in theatre – who knew there was an eyebrow maker?
Then they all enjoyed a very funny and informative tour of Shakespeare’s Globe, which fitted in perfectly with the Shakespeare theme Year 7 are studying in drama. After lunch, they went to the Unicorn Theatre and watched ‘The Trial of Josie K’, an adaptation of Kafka’s novel ‘The Trial’. Everyone enjoyed this fascinating production and there was lots of animated discussion on the way back to the station, about the casting and the staging.
Mrs Mason said:
“It was such a pleasure to take the children on this trip. Mr Hooker and I were so proud of the way they behaved and engaged with all the activities with such enthusiasm. It was such an interesting day out.”
Thanks to Mr Crisell and Mrs Burnett for driving children and staff to the station, Mrs Cleeves the Director of Drama at King Edward’s for organising the trip, and Mr Shreeve for all his help.
