It’s been a busy week in the Art Department with our Year 3-8 children taking part in the nationwide 2022 Big Draw Festival, ‘Come Back To Colour’, alongside King Edward’s Witley.
The theme…
“A love letter to each other and the world around us. The theme encapsulates what we all hope will be a rediscovery of the vitality, health, care and vibrancy in everyone’s lives after what has been a challenging last few years.”
Each child will design a colourful square to be sewn together as a community tapestry of individual squares that will be hung in both schools.
The Big Draw Festival, along with other projects, are both exciting and challenging as the children at both King Edward’s and Barrow Hills find their creative talents and increase their technical knowledge of formal elements and materials such as drawing skills, sketchbook work, clay and paint.
Please do take a look at the first squares that some of Year 6 and 8 have created this week. Well done children for your incredibly creative and wonderful designs so far!
We need your help!
We are aiming to sew the completed fabric squares in to four square blocks to send up to King Edward’s by the 17th November. We would love some volunteers to take four squares home with them to sew up with a cross stitch. Packs will be left in reception for anyone to take and return by the 17th November.
Thank you.
