This week, we have been thinking about shapes in Reception. The children have played shape bingo, driven cars around shape ‘race tracks’, junk modelled their own houses out of cardboard boxes and cut out shapes.
Their interest in pirates has broadened into discussions on ‘under the sea’ and we watched beautiful video clips of jellyfish before the children made their own jellyfish from plastic bowls and colourful streamers.
We have read a wide range of fiction, non-fiction and poetry – including ‘Commotion in the Ocean’ and ‘The Rainbow Fish’.
Autumn continues as a theme, with Forest School lessons in the woods and the children using conkers in their maths and in their play.
Their imagination has also been fired by the discovery of superhero cloaks and masks in a drawer in the classroom. So many activities have been completed while dressed as superheroes!
