Miss Edward’s is keeping art thriving at home. Year 5 have been studying the work of Degas and studying how he captures movement by using a technique known as ‘ghosting’.
Year 3 have been studying the work of Friedensreich Hundertwasser. Hundertwasser was a painter, printmaker, and architect best known for his paintings characterized by colorful, ornamental shapes. Transautomatism is a modern style of painting, founded by Friedensreich Hundertwasser. It is a type of surrealism, focusing on the viewer’s fantasy rather than an objective interpretation. Different people see different things in the same picture. The artist’s intention is less pertinent to the end experience, therefore, than how the viewer chooses to interpret it. Freddie (3G) was inspired by these theories to make his piece and his little sister Alexa (1G) had a go too.
In other exciting news Tilly (7G) won third place at the King Edward’s Witley Spring Art Competition. Tilly’s piece was called ‘Fight or Flight’ and it was a textural mixed media piece involving two horses in dramatic positions. Well done Tilly.
