On Monday 24th May, Barrow Hills hosted an Athletics Pentathlon with five schools competing.
All participating children took part in five events: 600m, 75m, ball throw, long jump, 5 x 300m relay. Everyone carried on despite the rain and ran for shelter under the gazebos in between each rain shower!
The atmosphere at the event was superb – children congratulating good performances from other schools and cheering on their team mates in the relays.
Performances that deserve a special mention must go to Conrad (7G) who gained the fastest time of the day in the 75m sprint in 9.61secs. Conrad also ran an absolute blinder on his 300m leg of the relay and caught up 80m on the school in front. Cade (8G) then took over in last leg of the U13 boys relay and again made huge ground on the school in 3rd place catching up a distance of 50m. The U13 girls were able to lead the 5 x 300m relay from the front for all five of their legs and finished 1st by at least 50m in a very quick time of 4.10 secs. Josh (6R) threw a cricket ball 38.6m and won the U11 Boys cricket ball competition.
Cleo (5G) was the overall winner of the U11 girls competition with 20 girls in the competition.
Beatrix (7G) came 2nd overall in the U13 girls competition out of 25 girls.
Barrow Hills came 1st overall out of the five competing schools.
