“To appreciate the beauty of a snowflake it is necessary to stand out in the cold!”

Love it or hate it, the cold weather has returned this week and I choose to embrace it! Lots of breathable layers, a warm hat, some gloves and above all else, decent socks!
We’ve been feeding the birds every day this week, in anticipation of the RSPB Big Schools Birdwatch, which we will be taking part in in February. In the woods we made use of the bird feeding station, which can be viewed from inside the Techo house and also along the long wall, which can be viewed from the Nursery/Kindy area. The robins started communicating immediately that food was out!
We have been identifying the differences between ourselves and birds, looking at their anatomy and the function of different types of feathers.
We played a game where we pretended to be different types of birds; swooping for chips like seagulls, balancing like flamingos, pecking like a woodpecker and tweeting like lovebirds whilst looking into each others eyes!
More bird antics next week!
