On Wednesday 19th March, Barrow Hills U11 and the U13 netball teams participated in the Bryanston Tournament.
U11 Team:
Our U11 team played their first tournament of BEE Netball. The rules of this new game are that each player must change into a new position every half. The order of rotations are dictated by England Netball so the girls who are selected must be strong in both defence and attack. Teams must bring a minimum squad of seven, with five players on court. Therefore, Mrs Clarke was kept busy making changes to the team throughout the tournament.
Results as follows:
Group stages:
Hoebridge B: 8-0 Win
Twyford: 3-4 Loss
Sherborne Prep: 7-4 Win
Farleigh: 5-3 Win
We narrowly missed out on the cup by one goal so went on to face Hazlegrove in the Plate semi final and won 7-2.
In the final we played against Cheam. We had a brilliant first half and came off 2-1 up but Cheam came out in the second half fast and furious and snatched the win from us in the final seconds. The final result was 5-4 to Cheam.
Well done girls, you coped with the multiple changes and adapted your play in each position, what fantastic results!
U13 Team:
Our U13 team were in a initial round of 5 teams and they finished 4th overall:
Castle Court: Won 7-2
Twyford: Lost 11-3
Durlston Court: Lost 11-1
Sandroyd: Lost 6-2
We progressed through to the vase competition and lost to Hazelgrove 8-3. In the 3rd/4th play off for the vase competition the girls played Walhampton and won 7-1. Despite a few tough games, the girls played with determination and made several excellent interceptions. Beatrix (8G) was player of the tournament.
