On Thursday 18th November, three pupils from King Edward’s, Emily, Harry and Emily and two from Barrow Hills’, Toby (8G) and Izzy (7G) produced wonderful spoken pieces in the Senior and Junior Heats of the Cranmer Awards held at Charterhouse. The Cranmer Awards are a national competition to promote familiarity with the Book of Common Prayer amongst young people and to develop their public speaking abilities. The Awards are open to young people from all backgrounds and faiths, competitors recite passages of the 1662 Book of Common Prayer and the Regional heats are followed by a prestigious National Final.
The standard from all the competitors was high. All the pupils received commendations and Izzy progressed through to the National Junior Finals held early next year in Liverpool.
Parents and staff agreed that it was a great learning experience and were very proud of the pupils’ endeavours. We look forward to next year with relish.
