The past two weeks have seen some amazing and very inventive bug hotels make their way into Barrow Hills. Some small, some large and some with wonderful creativity, full of dark nooks and crannies and different structures applied. Thank you to all those children and family members who supported and may have helped with this challenge. Mr Oldroyd was able to come and take a look and was equally impressed with the efforts made. The next step will be to place these around the school grounds in sheltered areas and out of the wind.
We are also planning to plant some more wildflowers and honeybee loving plants over the coming weeks, hopefully as the weather begins to warm. Although we already have wildflowers planted around the school grounds, we will add to these.
Fact!
Honeybees will start to fly when temperatures rise above 10 degrees and are attracted to colours of blue, violet and purple.
