The Junior Mathematical Challenge is a 60-minute, multiple-choice challenge, that promotes a love of problem solving for children from Year 8 and below across the whole of the United Kingdom. It encourages mathematical reasoning, precision of thought, and fluency in using basic mathematical techniques to solve interesting problems. The problems on the Junior Mathematical Challenge are designed to be challenging and make children think. Pupils are encouraged to think outside the box and come out of their comfort zone.
Barrow Hills entered over 60 children from Years 5 to 8 which was amazing to see. Every child received a certificate of participation for taking part in the JMC and to recognize the highest performers in the Challenge, Bronze, Silver and Gold certificates were awarded.
