Christmas might be fast approaching but we still have the festivals, commemorations and fun that November brings, before we open the first door on our advent calendars.
November is a particular time of reflection as we remember the military and civilian sacrifices made during conflict in Remembrance services, and then this week is Anti-Bullying Week. The week culminates in World Kindness Day with both annual events designed to spread the message of kindness and tolerance.
This week I have had the pleasure of creating a new display for the main corridor in Great Roke linking story books to the eight attributes of our Pupil Profile. Using the idea of a tree with its many spreading branches, each one representing a pillar of the Pupil Profile, I have suggested books for a mix of age groups that support and nurture each of the strengths that we aim to foster in school; curious, generous, responsible, joyful, brave, scholarly, truthful and compassionate.
As we end the week of thinking about bullying and being compassionate to others, this seems like an ideal time to suggest some books for you and your children to support and inspire kindness through the medium of stories, please click the image below.
