This week, it was the turn of Mrs James to be interviewed.
How did you decide to become a teacher?
When I was at college and university I went on lots of coaching courses for PE and enjoyed doing this, so after university I knew that I wanted to go into teaching as a career.
What qualifications do you have?
A-levels from Godalming College in English, Geography and PE, a BSc in Sports Science from Loughborough and a PGCE from Kingston University.
What’s your favourite part of the job?
The children! Every day is different and I love how enthusiastic and cheerful the children are!
What’s your least favourite part of the job?
Wet break times… No one likes wet breaks!
Tell us something interesting about yourself we might not know.
I once competed in a dragon boat race along the Thames, we went a long way and my arms really ached but it was really good fun. We didn’t win but we did quite well!
What’s your favourite food?
I love Thai food… but also chocolate… I’m very naughty and secretly eat my children’s chocolate so they have to hide it from me.
What’s your favourite holiday destination?
I love Cornwall but if I could go back anywhere I’d like to return to Rarotonga in the Cook islands and take my family with me this time.
Do you have any pets?
Yes, a rather greedy cat called Reggie.
What is your greatest achievement?
Having my two children, George and Hattie.
Describe yourself in three words.
Kind, optimistic and determined.
What book are you currently reading?
With my son George, I have just finished reading ‘The Boy at The Back of the Class’, we both thought it was brilliant. The grown up book I am reading is called ‘The Thursday Murder Club’ by Richard Osman… it’s so good I can’t stop reading it!
What was your favourite subject at school?
Art and PE – can I have two?!
Is there anything you would like to learn to do that you cannot do?
I’d love to be able to surf. I love bodyboarding when we go to Cornwall and always watch the surfers and think how amazing it must feel to catch an enormous wave and race into the shore. I think my son might be a bit embarrassed if I joined in with his surfing lessons though!
