How well do you know the members of the Barrow Hills team? There may be lots of familiar faces, but particularly at the moment, with no bacon butties, no BHCC events and ‘drop and go’ in the car park, we thought you might like to get to know us better. This week… Mrs Wood was interviewed by Emma (7G) and Seb (7G).
What brought you to Barrow Hills?
“My son, Archie was a pupil here from Reception all the way to Year 8 and I used to drop him off at school every day. Then this job opportunity came up and I thought ‘that’s something I could help with and I would like to work in a place like Barrow Hills’”
What is your favourite part of your job?
“Helping others sort out their IT problems and making sure everything works for everyone. I love to solve a problem!”
Tell us something interesting about yourself we might not know.
“I was born in Africa and the first word I spoke was in Swahili. I also played hockey for Zambia.”
What’s your favourite food?
“Hot curry.”
What’s the most unusual place you have travelled to or lived?
“I lived in Paraguay where we had to speak Spanish and I sailed around Westen Samoa. We had little money, so had to barter for what we needed.”
Have you got any pets?
“No but when I was a child we had a pet chimpanzee called Charlie. We rescued him and thought he was cute, so we kept him!”
If you could have dinner with three famous people (past or present) who would they be and why?
“The Queen – I would like to know how she finds life constantly in the public eye.
Nelson Mandela – He would have some amazing but some sad stories about his life.
Sir David Attenborough – I would compare my travels with him and find out what he thinks about the world we live in.”
What makes you joyful?
“Travelling with my family and learning about other cultures.”
What book are you currently reading?
“‘The Branded Gentry’ by David Hopper. He used to work in the office above me. It’s all about entrepreneurs and how they made their money.
Which attributes from the pupil profile would you have got the most credits for at school?
“Curious and Joyful.”
Are you curious to learn a new skill – what would it be?
“I would love to learn to fly a plane one day.”
What would you like your superpower to be?
“I would be invisible.”
