Years 3 and 4 had a fantastic time on their residential at PGL. For this group of children, it was their first school residential and they all embraced staying away from home and the activities on offer. Everyone was astounded at the amount of luggage!
On arrival, everyone was very excited. The children dragged all their luggage into a little room and met their team leaders. They then strolled onto the field to eat their packed lunch, singing a ‘repeat after me’ song. The children reported back to Mrs Peek that they had already started to lose their voices after the first day!
After lunch, the children marched into the woods to begin the first activity which was the ‘tunnel trail’. Later in the evening, the groups took part in ‘sports night’, playing ‘ambush’ and other team building activities. Everyone slept really well that night, which was a miracle!
“It was so much fun because we were in teams to find the most balls!”
Kiera (3R)

Kiera (3R)
The next day involved raft building in activity groups. Which group was going to have the most secure raft? Who was to remain on their raft and OUT of the lake? Great team spirit and lots of laughter had by all! Nearly everyone got very wet! The children then enjoyed abseiling and were certainly brave, with many commenting that it was a lot higher than they were expecting!
“On the last morning, we collected our luggage from the dorms, climbed into the mini-buses, waved goodbye and headed back to school. It was the best residential ever, well the first one I’ve ever been on actually!”
Annabel (3G)
“It was amazing, especially the giant swing!”
Philip (4G)
“I loved the giant swing because it just dropped down and my tummy felt like it was left on the top, and the food was delicious especially the full English breakfast.”
Phoebe (4R)
“I liked everything, the trip was very very good and the activities were brilliant.”
George (4G)
“I loved the giant swing, at first I was nervous, but I conquered my fears and went at maximum height – I was very proud of myself.”
Kit (4G)
“It was such a wonderful experience for all involved. The children were a dream and represented the school extremely well. I was very impressed that the teachers were able to get lots of sleep!!! Residentials contain so many magic memories, and this trip did not fall short.”
