This week, we have been looking at different natural settings and how they make us feel. We focused on four settings: the beach; the mountains; a summer meadow; and our woodlands.
The children were asked to imagine they were in each of the natural settings and then, in turn, tell the rest of the class how they felt about it.
For example, some were happy and excited to be on the beach, but others recalled unpleasant memories of salt water in their eyes or losing things in the sand. They were relaxed in the meadow, but scared of the insects biting. The thought of the mountains made them tired, and hungry, and miserable, after a long walk with little legs! Finally, a journey to the woods was full of wonder and expectations of what they would discover and learn; relaxed, happy and excited were feelings used to describe the woods… But, when it’s wet and cold, and if they haven’t got the appropriate clothing with them, they can feel fed up, bored, cold and sad!
On Wednesday we got to experience another type of natural setting…SNOWY! As you can see from the photos, the general emotion expressed on their faces was joyous!
